Maple Chilli

It’s not perfected yet, but it’s getting pretty consistently good…

  • 1 lb ground beef, turkey, or tofu crumble
  • 2 large cans diced tomatoes (I usually get the kind with spices added)
  • 1 regular can bean medley
  • 1 regular can kidney beans
  • 1 regular can maple baked beans
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • 2 tbsps chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin + 1/2 tbsp cumin
  • 10 shakes cayenne
  • 3 shakes red pepper flakes
  • 1tbsp maple syrup

  1. Brown the meat or tofu crumble in the bottom of your pot — add onions, garlic, salt, pepper- anything you might normally use to spice the meat
  2. Once the meat/meat substitute is cooked, drain off the fat
  3. Add the tomatoes, beans, chili powder, cumin, cayenne, and red pepper flakes
  4. Simmer for a while (the longer the better)
  5. After it is cooked, at the tomato paste, maple syrup, and cumin to taste
  6. Add any other spices or additions to taste

Voila! You can freeze this for an easy, hearty meal any time.
